OBJECTIVES

Entrepreneurial Spirit is an ambitious project aimed at promoting the Entrepreneurial Spirit in secondary schools. It will deliver multimedia educational tools (CD-ROM, Video course, distance learning Website) and support pilot courses in secondary schools in Europe.

Rationale
All around the European Union there is an intense need for the development of a more dynamic entrepreneurial spirit, which has to start early, from the schools and to keep on up to the systems of the third degree of education and training.

It is observed a lack of effective link between the area of education and the business world as well as the need of a narrower collaboration between the enterprises, the business organizations and the schools aiming at the realization of changes in the educational policy.

As we remark a small number of young businessmen and a percentage of failed businesses ran by young people, it is demanded the reinforcement of the training of the youth in issues such as the management of the businesses and their support during the critical phases at the beginning of their activities and the primary development of their business.

Moreover, the lack of the suitable training methods for the definition of the student’s business abilities at the age when they have to choose a profession, constitutes another important factor, which contributes to the discouragement of the young people for the establishment of their own business.

In addition, the family environment does not influence positively the young people towards the entrepreneurial occupation, a fact that renders even more urgent the development of training procedures in order to inculcate to them the entrepreneurial spirit, so that they become aware of the essential positive impact of the business activity to their personality and progress.

Expected results
The present project aims at:

  • Development of methodology and models supporting the students' vocational orientation towards entrepreneurship.
  • Acquisition of business experience by the students. The final educational product will contain the methodology of simple business plans that could be developed within the borders of the school community.
  • Easier access to the labor market, especially for young people about to choose their future vocational occupation, through the development of business skills and the promotion of the entrepreneurial spirit in the school environment.
  • Fostering a business consciousness. By presenting examples of successful businesses, the project contributes to the demystification of the enterpreneurial occupation and helps young people and their families  to realize that self-employment and enterpreneurship is a good chance to a successful career.
